Slater Technology Fund, a state-backed venture capital fund in Rhode Island, announced on Wednesday it has increased its seed-stage equity investment in the smart-grid technology firm Alektrona by $200,000, to a current total of $450,000.

Alektrona specializes in unifying open-standards products within energy management systems, and helping energy solution providers better serve their customers’ energy needs. The firm’s Energy Management Platform enables the next generation of Smart Grid applications where consumer choice is a fundamental requirement. Alektrona’s solution leads the industry in connectivity robustness, interoperability, security, scalability and functionality – allowing smart grid companies to focus on their customers’ energy needs.
