Aromyx Pulls In $3.6M

Propel(x), an online angel investment platform that helps investors source, evaluate and fund pioneering science and technology start-ups, today announced that Aromyx, a patented technology that captures human sensory experience of taste and smell, is raising $3. 6M of growth capital on the platform of Propel(x) Incubated at Stanford’s StartX accelerator and the Plug and Play Ventures Materials program, Aromyx was founded by Chris Hanson and has offices and offices in Palo Alto, California. Investors include Oriza Ventures, Eric Di Benedetto, Stanford-StartX Fund, Rationalwave Capital, John (‘Launny’) Steffens, Spring Mountain Capital, and TEEC Angel Fund.

The Technology

Aromyx Corporation develops technologies that, for the first time, allow scientific, reproducible measurement and digitization of taste and scent. The unique platform of the company, EssenceChipTM, a disposable biosensor, puts human taste and olfactory receptors in a biochip. EssenceChip is used in food and beverage, flavoring and fragrance, consumer packaged goods, chemical and agricultural industries. Aromyx is currently in advanced negotiations with some of the world’s largest consumer packaged goods companies.
