‘With this new funding, the company is poised to accelerate growth and drive innovation, enabling businesses to gain insight into the massive data sets in Hadoop as evidenced by industry partnerships, including Comcast,’ said Matt Carbonara, Principal at Comcast Ventures. ‘Comcast Ventures is excited to help AtScale by facilitating access to significant resources and expertise through our vast ecosystem of enterprise and service providers. ”

Impressive acceptance and growth

Launched a year ago, AtScale recently announced a five-fold increase in revenue and welcomed some of the most prestigious organizations in the world, from Aetna to Home Depot, Bloomberg, Groupon and Yellow Pages, as customers.

AtScale is at the forefront of the industry at a time when most companies are adopting Hadoop and are looking for solutions to connect their business users to this next generation data platform in a market that IDC valued at $122B.

AtScale’s unique architecture allows people to access Big Data quickly and unrestrictedly, using the tools they are familiar with, while adhering to corporate security and governance standards. This explains AtScale’s rapid rise across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, telecommunications, retail and financial services.

‘While other companies have spent their time raising large funding rounds, our focus has been on building a solution that solves problems for business customers,’ explains Dave Mariani, Founder and CEO of AtScale. ‘Frankly, we haven’t been looking for capital Investors have come knocking on our door, and this investment allows us to scale even faster. ”

Mariani, a serial entrepreneur who launched and sold two of his own companies, is a veteran of Big Data with an intimate understanding of the challenges that Hadoop faces. Prior to AtScale, he led Yahoo!’s foray into Hadoop Business Intelligence. At Klout, his team managed a 200-knot Hadoop cluster and powered a 1-thousand-row data warehouse that scored half of Facebook’s traffic.

‘Our focus from day one has been crystal clear: provide business users with an insatiable appetite for more data without moving data around, learning new business intelligence tools, or understanding the intricate details behind Hadoop or Spark. We’ve been extremely focused on delivering the industry’s first Unified Analytics Interface for Big Data,” said Dave Mariani, CEO and Founder.

Timing, Focusing, Experience and Execution

The company’s focus, great timing and superior architecture allowed it to quickly climb to the top of the company buyer’s list. AtScale is the only industry player to provide an open and Hadoop-native BI solution on Hadoop. In addition, the company has established key partnerships with leading large data infrastructure and visualization companies, including Tableau Software and Microsoft.

In its latest release, the company announced the addition of key governance and security features, making AtScale the industry’s most secure, flexible BI solution for Hadoop. AtScale does not require any data movement, installs no new client driver on user machines, and provides a dimensional semantic layer between Hadoop and any Business Intelligence tools.
