Aurora Solar Closes $20M Series A

Aurora Solar, the leading solar distributed software platform, today announced that it has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by Energize Ventures. S28 Capital will also join the existing investor, Pear, in the round This financing signals a high-growth phase for Aurora as the company expands its product functionality to further streamline the process of solar installers. Amy Francetic, Managing Director of Energize Ventures, will join the co-founders of Aurora, Christopher Hopper and Samuel Adeyemo, and the current Board Member, Shvetank Jain, on the Aurora Board of Directors.

“We see a tremendous market opportunity for software to drive efficiency across every aspect of the solar project lifecycle as the industry continues to grow and Aurora is best positioned to build it,” said Francetic. ‘Aurora’s LIDAR-enabled digital solution will be instrumental in making solar energy more affordable and reliable. In addition to capital, we look forward to bringing our energy industry network and experience in scaling up industrial SaaS companies to help accelerate Aurora’s growth. “That’s right.

As California and other states implement solar mandates, tools used by utilities, developers and installers to design and sell solar systems must work quickly and accurately for both small residential and large commercial systems. Aurora meets this demand by incorporating LIDAR data, computer-aided design technology and computer vision to help solar professionals remotely design solar projects. This allows Aurora customers to avoid one of the most cumbersome contact points in the solar industry-the site visit

“With more than $20 billion spent annually on solar energy in the US and $200 billion globally, we wanted to invest in the company that is building the solar industry’s operating system,” said Mar Hershenson, Managing Partner, Pear. Jain added, “Solar will have a very significant impact on the world’s energy infrastructure in the near future. From day one, we had the privilege of being involved with Aurora Solar and see it as the leading company in this space. Doubling down there was a no-brainer “That’s right.

With $20 million in new capital, Aurora will expand its engineering, customer success and other business teams. “This funding will allow us to continue to attract the most talented engineers, marketers, customer success and salespeople to serve the fastest growing occupation in the United States-the solar professional,” Adeyemo said.

Aurora’s world-class engineering team has developed its patented SmartRoof technology, the only solution on the market that allows solar professionals to create a highly accurate 3D CAD site model in just a few minutes. Using these models, Aurora can predict how many solar panels will fit into a property, calculate how much energy they will produce, and predict how much money the facility would save the owner of the property. Aurora’s technology enables shade reports that are equivalent to on-site measurements and are accepted by all major discount authorities such as NYSERDA, MASSCEC, Oregon Energy Trust and Connecticut Green Bank.

“We are thrilled to partner with Energize to bring the best-in-class sales and design platform to solar professionals in the US and around the world. Transition to a world powered by sustainable energy is one of the greatest challenges facing our generation and we look forward to allowing more solar installers to sell and install more solar,” says Hopper.
