Boosting crop yields on existing acreage and with limited inputs is the main challenge for sustainable agriculture production. With the global population projected to reach 9 billion by 2050 and changing diets in the burgeoning middle class worldwide, agricultural output must double in this timeframe. The reduction of agricultural resources, such as arable land and fresh water, further compounds this challenge.

Benson Hill was established in 2012 to address these growing challenges. Through rational design and the application of next generation biotechnology and other approaches, the company uses computation and biology to accelerate innovation in crop development. Benson Hill technologies will deliver more output from less inputs to growers and increase sustainability and value across the agriculture and bioenergy sectors.
