The acquisition will enable Freshworks’ IT teams to better manage hybrid infrastructure, optimise spend and automate employee workflow by providing greater visibility. It will also help bolster its IT support service portfolio, Freshservice.
Founded in October 2010, Freshworks provides SaaS customer engagement solutions to organizations of all sizes to make it easier for support, sales and marketing professionals to communicate effectively with customers. The company offers a variety of products including Freshdesk, Freshservice, Freshsales, Freshcaller, Freshteam, Freshchat, Freshmarketer and Freshrelease. Freshworks is backed by investors like Accel, Tiger Global Management, CapitalG and Sequoia Capital India.
This acquisition marks Freshworks’ third acquisition is the span of last one year. In May 2019, it acquired Natero Inc which enabled Freshworks to add customer success to its customer engagement portfolio. In February 2020, it acquired AnsweriQ Inc that helped reinforce the capabilities of Freddy AI, the company’s artificial intelligence engine.
In May, Freshworks appointed Tyler Sloat as its Chief Financial Officer. The company recently also said that it has crossed US$ 200M in annual recurring revenue.
Singapore-headquartered company with major workforce in Pune, Flint is an IT orchestration and cloud management platform. It provides automation and cloud computing capabilities to IT organisations, allowing them to quickly adapt to the needs of an increasingly remote workforce.
Currently, Flint’s co-founders Ankur Gakkhar and Abhishek Pande are leading two teams at Freshworks. Pande is heading the platform and technology integration effort, whereas Gakkhar is leading the automation and cloud management product team.
Abhishek Pande, Former CTO of Flint, said that the acquisition will “enable insight across infrastructure and apps, maintain service health and optimise cloud delivery and spend.” “Flint’s orchestration platform and agnostic integrations intelligently automate entire IT and employee workflows and complex IT runbooks like employee onboarding, closed-loop request fulfilments, develops pipeline and cloud workload automations, requests or approvals.”, Pande added.
Prakash Ramamurthy, CPO of Freshworks, explained the impact of today’s environment with companies increasingly adopting remote working scenarios owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that IT automation will be “vital to help accelerate the transition to a remote workforce and resolve service issues faster”. He also discussed the benefits of the acquisition. “With the addition of Flint’s intelligent automation, Freshworks takes the legwork out of tedious, repeatable tasks so that IT teams can focus on high impact work while providing an exceptional employee experience.”, added Ramamurthy.
