Mayfield led the round, with additional investments from Blumberg Capital and Intel Capital. With this investment, Arcadia will continue to deliver on its vision to provide business users with accelerated access to all of their data by further expanding its product, sales and marketing teams.
Today, Arcadia Data also announced the unveiling of its Visual Analytics and BI platform, enabling business users to interact directly with Hadoop data to glean rich insights with drag-and-drop ease. With this funding, the company will continue to enhance its product portfolio and help companies overcome barriers to enterprise-wide acquisition of big data.
‘We have been investing in big data for a while and have seen our companies grow into platforms such as NoSQL-provider Couchbase and Hadoop-vendor MapR,’ said Navin Chaddha, Managing Director at Mayfield and Board Member at Arcadia Data. ‘We believe that the next wave of innovations will take place at the analytics level with delightful products that will quickly deliver granular insights to business users. We’re excited to champion Sushil and the team and think Arcadia Data has the potential to grow into the Big Data World Table. ”
According to Gartner’s 2015 Hadoop Adoption Study, one of the biggest barriers to the adoption of big data is the complexity of Hadoop, with 57% of respondents stating that skills gaps inhibit adoption. Arcadia Data overcomes this challenge with its converged analytics platform, which brings speed, simplicity and scale to data analytics. Some of the most data-driven companies in the world – including Appboy, HP and MarketShare – have turned to Arcadia to draw meaningful insights from their data and to drive the use of big data across their organizations.
‘Arcadia Data connects business users to Hadoop and delivers net new analytics at interactive speeds on a large scale of data,’ said Jason Waxman, vice president and general manager of the Intel Cloud Platforms Group. ‘Intel’s investment and collaboration with Arcadia Data will help us scale up and meet the growing demand for big data visual analytics and business intelligence platforms. ‘Director Igor Taber led the investment in Intel Capital
Arcadia Data’s Converged Analytics architecture allows Hadoop-based companies to quickly build drag-and-drop apps and perform an exploratory analysis of all their data, rather than just a subset. While optimized for Hadoop, users can also build apps across other data sources, including MySQL, Oracle and Teradata. Extensive partnerships with companies such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, Intel, IBM and MapR ensure that users have a seamless workflow.
‘We seeded Sushil and the founding team and raised this oversubscribed round to help support Arcadia Data’s enormous market demand,’ said Bruce Taragin, Managing Director of Blumberg Capital and Board Member of Arcadia Data. ‘Hyper growth testifies to the fitness of the product market and the need within the Big Data market to connect business users to Hadoop. ”
Recent funding will be used to expand the product portfolio of Arcadia Data and to build a community of users. The company has just announced that Arcadia Instant, the downloadable version of the visual analytics portion of the Arcadia platform, is in limited release and will be fully available by the end of 2015. Funding will also be used to double the size of product development, sales and marketing teams by the end of the year.
‘This is a very exciting time for us at Arcadia Data Businesses want to be more data-driven, yet have lacked an easy-to-use, integrated product that gives them accurate answers to their most pressing business questions,” said Sushil Thomas, CEO of Arcadia Data. ‘Our converged analytics platform solves these data problems as a scale We are seeing great momentum in large companies that use Hadoop to store data and use Arcadia’s Converged Analytics Platform to visualize and analyze these datasets. We look forward to using this funding to bring this momentum forward. ”
